Visitant vs Simple Analytics
Simple Analytics is a clean, cookie-free dashboard from the Netherlands with a free plan and a one-page view of your traffic. Visitant is built the same way (no cookies, no IP stored, EU hosting) and adds the AI loop: which AI crawlers read your pages, which assistants send people, and what those people buy. Honest verdict: if you only need human pageviews, both do the job; if you want to see the AI side of your traffic, only one of them shows it.
- Both set 0 cookies and store 0 IP addresses; both derive the country from the browser time zone (Simple Analytics says so in its "what we collect" page).
- Simple Analytics: free plan with 1 month of history and a badge, paid from EUR 20/mo at 100,000 pageviews, extra users EUR 20/mo each. Visitant Pro is $12/mo for 100,000 events with 3 seats.
- Visitant logs 44 AI crawlers server-side and groups referrals from 21 AI assistants as a channel. We found no AI referral channel and no crawler log in the Simple Analytics docs on the checked date.
- Neither tool has session replay or heatmaps. Simple Analytics offers an AI chat over your data, but it is not in the Free or Simple plan feature list; Visitant has an "Ask" box in English and Polish on Business and up.
- In our view the two dashboards are equally easy to read; the difference is what they count, not how they look.

Prices in EUR, monthly billing, read on 2026-09-25 from the plan data behind the pricing slider on simpleanalytics.com/pricing. Yearly billing gives 2 months free. The Simple plan includes 1 user (each extra user EUR 20/mo), 10 websites and 3 years of data; the monthly fee follows your average usage. 14-day trial, no card. Enterprise is custom pricing.
The AI loop
A visit from ChatGPT usually starts weeks earlier, when a crawler read the page. Visitant records that first step with a small server snippet: 44 known AI crawlers, split into training, AI search and user-fetch, each hit checked against the IP ranges the operator publishes, and spoofed ones flagged. Then the browser script groups referrals from 21 assistants (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and more) into one AI channel, adds a "likely AI" estimate from text-fragment landings, and keeps AI agents out of your human counts. Goals, funnels and revenue can be split per assistant, so you see "Perplexity sent 41 people, 3 bought". Simple Analytics shows the referrer as it arrives, so chatgpt.com is a line in the referrers list, but there is no AI channel, no crawler side and no per-assistant revenue. Crawler hits never count toward the Visitant plan limit.
- You want a free plan with no monthly cap on pageviews and can live with 1 month of history and a badge.
- You bill in EUR and prefer a Dutch vendor with a 14-day trial and yearly billing at 2 months free.
- You already use their Stats API in your reports.
- In our view their dashboard is the simplest of all the tools we compare; if that is the main criterion, pick it.
- You publish content that AI assistants quote and want the crawler log (44 crawlers) next to the human traffic, at no extra event cost.
- You need goals, funnels, revenue and Core Web Vitals in one $12/mo plan with 3 seats instead of paying EUR 20/mo per extra user.
- You want 13 months of history on the free plan instead of 1 month.
- You run a Polish site: the dashboard, the digest and the "Ask" box work in Polish.
Questions
Can I import my Simple Analytics history into Visitant?
No. Visitant does not import data from other tools. Run both scripts side by side for a few weeks (both are cookie-free, so nothing changes for your visitors) and switch when you are ready.
What does 100,000 pageviews cost in each tool?
Simple Analytics: EUR 20/mo on the slider (about EUR 200/year with the 2 free months). Visitant Pro: $12/mo for 100,000 events, where AI crawler hits are not counted.
Do I need a cookie banner with either tool?
Not for the analytics itself: both set 0 cookies and store 0 IP addresses. If the rest of your site sets cookies (a shop cart, ads), that is a separate question.
Does Simple Analytics show traffic from ChatGPT?
It shows the referrer as it arrives, so chatgpt.com appears in the referrers list when the browser sends it. It does not group assistants into one channel and does not see crawler fetches, which happen server-side.
